English Grain FAQs

Kitchens

We may be a smaller Suffolk kitchen design company, but we strongly believe that’s what makes us able to offer better aftercare than the bigger kitchen manufacturers.

For us, it’s all about the personal touch and reputation.

We’ll never refuse any request you might have for attention, will address any concerns and will quickly rectify any problems.

Just as an example, we recently fixed a bin that had been broken because one customer’s children had hung off it!

English Grain is committed to using only wood from recognised sustainable sources for our handmade kitchens.

All of the wood we use in making our kitchens comes from a local timber supplier.

They carry a range of independent certification of internationally-recognised standards to show that their timber originates from forests that have been responsibly managed, along with the companies that they use in their own chain of supply.

In essence, good kitchen design is about form meeting function in an aesthetically pleasing way.

This means creating a kitchen that works as beautifully as it looks, perfectly designed to complement your way of living while effortlessly functioning.

Some of the strength of a bespoke kitchen design is that all of the elements of beautiful aesthetics and functionality can be incorporated into the initial kitchen drawings, evolving throughout the process.

At English Grain, we take care to discuss all of the options available to customers – from choice of materials, to layout and appliances – until the desired design is finalised and agreed.

It’s then down to us to get busy in our Suffolk workshop, crafting the kitchen by hand. We love what we do.

English Grain has been making kitchens in Suffolk since the start of 2010.

Throughout the years, we have made bespoke kitchens in a wide variety of sizes and to different designs – from traditional to contemporary.

We’re hugely proud to say that our kitchens are found in numerous Suffolk homes in local towns such as Woodbridge, Felixstowe and Ipswich, alongside numerous projects a little further afield in neighbouring counties.

Yes, there are a number of really good Suffolk bespoke kitchen companies out there, but we firmly believe that there are various reasons why you should consider English Grain to make your kitchen.

We have a real passion for what we do. From the initial designs, to hand-crafting in our workshop, then taking care over the final installation – we offer unrivalled levels of service and quality products built to last a lifetime.

You can also expect a truly personal service, with English Grain’s James Kinninmonth taking full ownership of each project. So, no middle-men and no hard-sell – we’re confident enough to let our kitchens speak for themselves.

Lastly, we may be a smaller kitchen company, but that is also a key strength. And when allied with our proficiency is the ‘sweet spot’ necessary for the perfect end product and customer experience.

We have a bespoke kitchen close to our workshop in Suffolk that is available to view by appointment. We’re happy to show you around and discuss your needs.

Yes, as we make all of our bespoke kitchens by hand in Suffolk, there is an innate flexibility to all the designs – kitchens without compromise.

The same is true with any of the bespoke furniture we construct. Indeed, we pride ourselves on being able to create beautiful kitchens and furniture that will look at home in any challenging spaces and awkwardly-shaped rooms that customers may have.

For example, we have created Suffolk farmhouse kitchens and other bespoke furniture, such as wardrobes for quirky country cottages that take into account elements like low ceilings, beams and the odd angles that are such an attractive feature of period properties.

Indeed, we always pride ourselves on being able to work with any shape of room – and relish the challenge!

If you would like to find out more about how we design and make kitchens in Suffolk we’d love to have a chat with you, so please get in touch by sending us a message or calling James Kinninmonth on 07850 416 487.

Quite possibly.

We’re happy to chat through any ideas about what you want from a bespoke kitchen and then look at the potential costs involved.

We have produced a huge range of handmade kitchens, and as each one is built from scratch we can be flexible when it comes to choice of materials, finishes, cabinetry, right down to different handles for cupboard doors.

All of these factors can have an impact on the cost of a bespoke kitchen, so get in touch or give James Kinninmonth a call for a chat on 07850 416 487 and let’s see if we can work together.

Once we have agreed the design of your bespoke kitchen, it generally takes us around four weeks to make a kitchen by hand in our Suffolk workshop, plus a further week to paint or finish the kitchen.

Depending on the size of the kitchen ordered, it takes up to two weeks to install.

So, the entire process will be completed in under two months from the point of ordering a kitchen.

Other FAQs

If we’re to design and create your perfect bespoke kitchen or furniture it will obviously require some input from you – as much or as a little as you want.

By working together throughout the design phase it allows us to gain a clear understanding of how you want your kitchen or furniture to look and function.

Similarly, we can have discussions about the materials you prefer, different finishes for the timber, right through to the style of the handles – all elements which make your kitchen bespoke.

And, of course, we’re happy to offer any advice and guidance, sharing our knowledge and expertise to ensure the very best results.

Although we’re a bespoke carpentry company based near Woodbridge in Suffolk, with a strong customer base in the local area, we also make kitchens and furniture for customers all across East Anglia.

Get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements.
